It was a magnificent experience seeing and being a part of the preparation of a flower carpet last weekend for Sunday’s Infiorate di Spello. Friday night before Sunday’s celebration I plucked flower petals from 9:30 p.m. to 12:45 a.m. On Sunday the local priests lead a procession through the town, walking through the flower carpets. The flowers are dusted away by the feet of the priests, reminding me of the Buddhist philosophy of impermanence — the understanding that all things are in a constant state of change.

I love this too! Imaging the perfection of those delicately, perfectly placed flower mosaic carpet. Then the priests walking through as the flowers all dust aside as their robes flow through.
Beautiful!!
Thank you Deb.
